Seek Scan is a simple, low-cost, thermal imaging system designed to automate body temperature screening using skin temperature as a proxy. Unlike traditional screening methods, Seek Scan enables social distancing, self-measurement and finds the most reliable spot on the face for temperature measurement.
The Seek Scan process provides an additional layer of preventive screening and delivers more peace of mind to businesses, institutions and participants.
Set up Seek Scan in minutes using two tripods and a Windows PC. Please note, tripods are not included.
Made in USA with global components.
Seek Scan meets FDA guidelines for initial body temperature assessment during the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency
Seek Scan is one of the most affordable solutions that meets FDA guidelines for thermal imaging systems used for initial body temperature assessment during the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency. Per the FDA guidelines released in April 2020, Seek Scan meets the accuracy specification, includes a reference heat source and is made for single person screening.
How does it work?
Seek Scan is specifically designed and calibrated to deliver accurate skin temperature measurements while enabling social distancing protocols. In seconds, the system automatically detects a face, identifies the most reliable facial features for measurement, and displays an alert if someone is warmer than the customizable alarm temperature.
Unlike typical industrial thermal cameras, Seek Scan was developed for precise skin temperature measurement and maximizes accuracy by referencing a fixed heat source with a known temperature value. Including a fixed heat source in the system lets Seek Scan produce much higher accuracy than a standard thermal imaging camera. The Seek Scan process provides an additional layer of preventive screening and can deliver more peace of mind to businesses, institutions and participants.
The Seek Scan process provides an additional layer of preventive screening and can deliver more peace of mind to businesses, institutions and participants.
Scan completes its test in approximately one second, enabling lines to move quickly. Scan will output to a monitor via USB, so that personnel can be kept at a greater distance from test subjects. The camera will need to be approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the subject.
Skin temperature vs body temperature
Seek Scan measures skin temperature as a proxy for body temperature.
Here are a few things to know about skin temperature measurement:
- Skin temperature is typically a few degrees less than body temperature. As such, Seek Scan will report temperature readings lower than internal body temperature. This means the system is working properly.
- A person's skin temperature may vary based on a variety of circumstances such as ambient temperature, sweat, facial hair, and glasses. For this reason, Seek Scan graphs all recent temperature measurements to help the user clearly see anomalies and set a desired temperature alarm threshold based on their own environment.
- Seek Scan is programmed to measure the most reliable parts of the face to produce the best results with high accuracy.
APIs are available for Integrators
Integrating Seek Scan with your access control and video management systems brings another level of convenience and control to your office safety procedures. Whether you want to unlock a door with a temperature scan, flag a video when a scan occurs, or simply send pass/fail alerts, Seek Scan makes it easy for integrators to connect temperature screening to your network using our APIs.
Initial capabilities will be released to provide network camera discovery and thermal scan alerts from pass/fail events. UDP packets are broadcast from Seek Scan software throughout your network and all data is encoded in plain-text JSON format. Future JSON based APIs will allow you to remotely view temperature scan results, enable action-based events, and control the settings of your Seek Scan system. Seek will continue to release features, capabilities and protocols to enhance its API offering.
Key Features

Developed for precise temperature measurement and also includes a fixed heat source that maximizes accuracy.

Non-contact, non-invasive screening eliminates contact between screening personnel and participants.

In seconds, the system detects a face, finds the most reliable spot to measure and displays a pass/fail alert.

Start scanning in minutes using two tripods and a Windows PC. No special equipment or training required.

Thermal imaging has been used globally for years as a fast, non-invasive way to measure temperature.

Priced significantly lower than other thermal screening solutions.
